Welcome to my website! I am a microeconomic theorist working primarily on mechanism design.

BIO

Vasiliki Skreta is the Leroy G. Denman Regents Professor of Economics at the University of Texas at Austin, a Research Fellow of CEPR and NBER. Her research spans microeconomic theory, with a focus on mechanism design, game theory, and information economics. Professor Skreta's main research contributions are on mechanism design with limited commitment: this area presents special difficulties, as the celebrated revelation principle is inapplicable. Her research has been published in leading journals, including EconometricaJournal of Political EconomyAmerican Economic Review, and the Review of Economic Studies. She is the inaugural recipient of the Arrow Prize, awarded by the Econometric Society in 2024 for the best paper in economic theory published in Econometrica in the preceding four years. Professor Skreta's work has been supported by the ERC, the National Science Foundation, and other major funders. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh and a B.A. from the Athens University of Economics and Business. Prior to her current roles, she held faculty positions at NYU’s Stern School of Business, UCLA, and the University of Minnesota. She is a Fellow of the Econometric Society, the European Economic Association, and the Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory. She currently serves as a Co-Editor of the Journal of the European Economic Association and has served on the editorial boards of the American Economic Review and other leading journals in economic theory.
